Guide to Supplying Artwork

We want to make it as simple as possible to order online, so in order to process your job correctly first time, please refer to one of the following sections.

PAYMENT FOR DESIGN AND PRODUCING ARTWORK

Our basic prices include checking your artwork and correcting  EASY to rectify issues that we spot.
However, if you require design or artwork  this is charged seperately.

We can advise you of costs for setting and design .To keep it simple we work in units of £5.00 and depending on the work involved we will advise you on how many units to purchase.
You simply purchase the number of units needed and add these to your shopping basket.

DESIGN SERVICE

Call us on 01403 711 829. We will take a brief and ask you to send any relevant items.

We can then give you a price and will advise on how many units to purchase.

When ready, you will be sent a proof which you need to approve BEFORE any work can be started

ARTWORK

Supply all the various elements, Pictures (those from websites or digital cameras with less than 4 megapixels are not suitable), logos, text, and a rough layout.

You can either send by email or by post loaded on a disk together with a sketch layout. (our address can be found at the bottom of the page)

If you want multi photos for canvas prints, please call us first.

FINISHED (PRINT READY) ARTWORK

We accept the follwing File Formats:

Quark Express: supply fonts and images (CMYK)
Illustrator: fonts converted to outlines, supply images (CMYK)
Photoshop: layers flattened, at least 300 dpi. jpeg or tiff (CMYK)
Indesign: fonts converted to outlines
Acrobat PDF: see below for specifiactions

CORRECT PREPARATION OF PDF FILES

When creating a PDF in Acrobat distiller, there are job options which need setting.
Please ensure you choose high resolution with auto compression set on high.
Fonts should be set to “embed all fonts”.
Please save as CMYK and not RGB.
Raster image files (JPG, TIFF etc) should be supplied with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

CANVAS PRINTS

Sizing: Make sure the proportions of the picture will fit your chosen size without losing any vital details. The sizes shown on our canvas print price grid fit most digital pictures. All landscape sizes can also be used for portrait pictures. If you want the picture to extend around the edges, please allow for this. Don't worry if the picture has red-eye, date stamps or small blemishes, as we remove all such defects free of charge in our studio.

BANNERS

For pre-designed banners, include any personalised wording required.

SENDING FILES

Files can be sent by email to studio@aliengraphics.co.uk, uploaded to our ftp site. or sent by post.

If you are emailling the files of putting them on our FTP site, please ZIP or STUFF your files into a single archive, and name it with the Order Reference Number found on your invoice.

If you are sending CD's, DVD's or USB Memory Sticks by post, please include a hard copy of your artwork if available, and please quote your Order Reference Number, Contact name, email address and telephone number in case of query. Keep a copy of your artwork in case changes or corrections are needed.
